DECISION MAKING PROCESS

The art of deciding the right way

Decisions are source and root of human action. Data & fact based management is the disciplin and approach, which Bachmann Analytics is actively promoting and strongly recommending. How decisions are actually being made by a management team or a leader, is already very meaningful. Factors, which usually influence our capability of making good decisions, are usually (and this list is by no means prioritised or structured by frequency of occurence):

  1. Bad or incomplete reporting, extenuations, blind spots
  2. Actions that result in fait accompli, set the scene, create facts, pro-active obedience
  3. Keeping up the beauty of appearances of earlier decisions
  4. Faulty interpretations
  5. Wishful thinking, make-believe, self-extenuation, beliefs, specialisation, lies
  6. Experience
  7. The tricks our brains play us
  8. Cognitive dissonance, tunnel vision, „not invented here“
  9. The psychology of our perception, our personality
  10. Ignoring perception of self vs. perception of others (internal and external apperception)
  11. Leadersip team dynamics, trench wars, schemes
  12. Lacking data & fact based management
  13. Lack of principles and values, ethics
  14. Lack of appropriate decision making processes
  15. Decicions made on power, anger, competiton, gut instinct, hunches, etc.
  16. Ignoring of warnings
  17. Ignoring or ploughing under dissent
  18. Fear of saying or to acknowledge truth
  19. A corporate culture unsuitable for making fitting or good decicions (or structure)
  20. Flawed strategies, which solidify which each step taken into the wrong direction
  21. Anecdotes are believed to form the majority of cases
  22. Belief, the client behaves as expected or directed
  23. Experts making decicions

As one of the building blocks of the Bachmann Analytics Academy, a highly interactive and multi-media workshop id offered, which looks at all these underlying reasons for bad or flawed decisions in turn, explaining them and making their consequences transparent. This workshop enjoys a great degree of popularity; you will not believe what you will see – or rather fail to see. At the end of the workshop an audit can be carried out, which will tell you more about your decision making capabilities and level of maturity. Here are the roots for many malpositions in companies and organisations. This report regularly enjoys little or no popularity – however, itis the starting point to great improvements, and an unforgettable experience.
